Laurent Theil-Santerre has practiced with a scottish broadsword since 2006 when he joined the 78th Fraser Highlanders historical regiment in Québec. Laurent has studied under Gabriel Mailhot, broadsword teacher and then regimental fencing master, since then. In the following years Laurent has dabbled in a variety of historical swords in a variety of clubs over the world, helping him diversify his fencing though he still favors the broadsword. When the 78th Fraser closed its fencing school in 2017, Laurent joined the Académie Scrimice in Québec, of which he is still a student and occasional instructor. In 2018, he gave his first workshop abroad on fighting with the scottish broadsword.
