An intermediary to advanced class on fighting with a Scottish broadsword or saber. Students will be shown a few drills and exercises aimed at helping them perfect the principles behind feints, collapsing defense, and control of distance in combat. Exercises will include provoking an opponent’s collapse, working at maximum distance, breaking tempo and setting up an opening. All the while working without control of the opponent’s weapon.
Required equipment: Fencing mask, Scottish broadsword, saber or similar cutting and thrusting practice weapon with a basket-hilt. Rigid forearm, shin and knee protections. Appropriate protections for those who want to practice/fight at full speed.
